ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018 with a BFA in Studio Art Photography.
I became interested in photography at a young age. I was an avid artist who loved to draw and paint, but soon discovered photography to be my favorite medium and realized the full artistic potential it provided.
In 2012 I started a small photography business to provide portraits for my high school friends and peers. Since then it's grown into so much more as I continued my art education.
For the longest time, I wondered what made a great photographer. Is it an expensive camera and equipment, or maybe the extensive education and fancy extra letter in your degree? The answer became clear to me that everyone can take a photo, but not just anyone can capture a moment. While those things help make up a photographer what is consistently remembered is how you tell a story through an image.
What sets me apart is my passion and ability to allow clients to feel authentic and at ease in front of the camera. All while getting the job done.
I've had the pleasure of capturing families, couples, large events, cosplayers, and so many beautiful people from all walks of life. Each one with a unique story and a special place in my heart.
My mission is to create an overall amazing experience and outcome for my clients.
Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from you soon!
Artist Statement
Photography is a perfect balance of control and chance. Making photographs allows me to manipulate how the world is viewed while also capturing unique moments. Much of my work is an exploration of emotion and a state of mind by using my own experiences. I draw artistic inspiration from fashion photography as well as cinematography. The qualities of both fashion and cinematography assist me in capturing a narrative as well as the eye of a viewer through the use of striking lighting, and the approach of the subject.
I’m inspired by my experience as a woman as well as a cancer survivor. These aspects of my identity are driving forces for much of my current work. Being diagnosed at the young age of ten, much of my development into a young woman was strongly affected by cancer. I often use myself as the subject to better understand these emotions and my reality. Self-esteem, anxiety, and inner turmoil are all themes that I connect to and try to capture in relation to those experiences.
